Another theory blog post? Oh yeah, I'm on fire! :)

I've found some fun beauty facts recently and thought I might them with you.

  • You leave about 5% of the lipstick you're wearing behind on glasses, mugs, clothing and men.
  • They say 'Blondes have more fun', but did you know they have more hair on their head than any other girls. Blondes have about 140,000 hairs, brunettes have 110,000 and red heads have "only" 80,000.
  • The first polish ever made was produced in China. It was a mixture of egg whites, bees wax, gum and colored powder.

Thailand haul

Hi everyone! I just got back from Thailand abut a week ago and I have done a little bit of shopping in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. I thought I'd share my beauty haul with you all, so let's go :)

Beauty haul
I wasn't quite sure which drugstores I'd ran into in Thailand, but seems like Boots is very popular there, so I just had to explore the store!

First thing I ran into were these blotting sheets. I've been using the Clean&Clear blotting sheets for years now, but I'm always on the look out for cheaper versions. These are the Aiko and the Gatsby blotting sheets.
I've heard the Gatsby are just as good as the C&C ones, so we'll see whether they can match the more expensives ones. The Aiko I just got because they were cheap :D

Gatby & Aiko blotting sheets

Next up are the cleansing strips by Biore. If you haven't heard of them yet, they're black nose strips which you stick to your nose to get rid of the blackheads on the nose. I think they're one of the better nose strips on the market for now.

You all know by now that I'm a lip junkie, so I jut had to check out their lippies. I ran into a Baby Lips Belgium hasn't released, which is the mango pie fragrance.
Maybelline Baby Lips. mango pie

Right next to it was the Maybelline Color Bloom lip balm, and since I've never heard about that I just had to grab it as well to give it a try.
Maybelline Color Bloom

Honestly I don't wear much blush, but everytime I see a pretty color on the shelves, I just can't restrain myself and I have to have it. This powder blush is a matte peachy color.
Revlon blush: Perfectly Peach

I got really excited when I saw this lying on the shelves: the Soap&Glory Hand Food. I've heard so many good things about this hand cream. There's a very sweet scent to it and reminds me of Dior's perfume.
Soap&Glory: Hand Food

My last item I got at Boots is the Cetaphil moisturiser. It's supposed to be a lightweight moisturiser with SPF. And after hearing so many people rave about this product, I just had to give this a go as well.

My next stop to do beauty shopping was 7/11. It's a little supermarket that sells pretty much everything: from food to beauty, they have it all.

I used products by the brand Ponds before and although I'm not their biggest fan, I really wanted to try out some of their facial products.
The pure white was very gentle on the skin and I quite liked it.
Pond's Pure White Deep Cleansing Brightening Facial Foam

Because I liked the product mentioned above, I wanted to get myself another Pond's product. Since I like mattifying products, I couldn't keep my eyes off of this facial foam, because of the words mineral clay. I used to experiment with clay before, but the results didn't turn out as I wanted them to be. We'll see what this can do to my face.
Pond's Oil Control Skin Mattifying Facial Foam

As I had a day off (no activities planned) I decided to had a pamper session and do my nails. I went and got a polish remover by the brand Joy Us. I can't ay it's the best polish remover ever. but it did the job...after a while :)

As I was in a hot country, I bought a deodorant. It's funny to see that the deodorants we have in Europe are the same in Asia, only Asians added the words 'extra whitening' to their products. Yes. Asians still like to be as pale as ever. It's all about their status after all...
Nivea Extra Whitening Anti-Perspirant
After hearing so any raving about this product, I just couldn't be left behind. This is a daily scrub to remove blackheads. It's a white creamy texture with yellow micro beeds in it.
Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub
On my last day I found out I had some 7/11 stamps left. 1 stamp equals 1 Baht, and since I had 31 stamps left over, I decided to use them up before leaving Thailand. I got 2 Clean&Clear miniature sizes of their Essentials line.
Clean&Clear Esentials: Foaming Facial Wash - Oil Control Toner

I also got a polish by Revlon, which I got at a very big drugstore. I don't really remembered the name, but most big brands were very cheap. Frankly, I don't have high hope for this polish but we'll see.
Revlon Nail Enamel: 220 Provoke

If you had noticed, I only bought products which are all or Western or Eastern, everything except Thai. Well, I accidentally bumped into Oriental Princess. This is a little boutique which has only beauty items that is as Thai as can be. I've heard about this store, and as it is affordable, it's not super cheap as in most drugstores. I got the Acnemise, an oil free moisturising gel.
Oriental Princes: Acnemise

On my last day we had some time to spare at the airport. Amd what do you do to kill time at an airport? That's right, you go duty free shopping :)

The first thing I picked up was an eyeliner by NARS. I've heard so many good things about this, and since my eyes are quite tricky to please, I splurged on a high end eyeliner to check whether it's worth the hype.
NARS Larger Than Life Long Wear Eyeline: Via Veneto

Second thing I got is another eyeliner, but this time it's a cheaper alternative. This should supposedly stay on for 16 hours, so I just had to put this one up to the test.
Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner: Charcoal
When I was already planning on leaving for my gate, I saw this in the corner of my eye and I was sold immediately. This is a travel exclusive little box containing 5 Baby Lips (jumping up and down).
Maybelline Baby Lips

And last but not least, I knew I would make a loss should I change my Bahts back into Euro's, so (and this may sound dumb), but I tried to use up all of my Thai money. When I saw this on the shelf, I've been hesitating to get it but I decided to pamper myself :) This is the V&R set: perfume, body lotion and shower gel. Although it's not much cheaper as in stores, unfortunately most stores are out of this set. (Yes, i was a valid excuse for me to get it)
Victor&Rolf Flowerbomb

This was my Thailand haul. I was hoping I would get much more, but I'm quite pleased with the end results after all. If you want me to do a review on any of these products, let me know in the comment bar below :) Lah gorn!

Happy Bday Deauty!

Hi my beloved readers, glad to have back :)

I'm happy you decided to read this blog post. You've probably read the title of this post, and yes, Deauty has already celebrated their 1st anniversary! YAY! Come to think about it, I'm already a proud owner of my own little spot on blogspot for over a year. Time flies by so fast!

If you haven't heard about Deauty before (click here to go to their website), it's basically a Belgian subscription service that allows you to test out make up and skincare products for an affordable fix price every single month.

The beauty box offers a variety of (drugstore) brands such as Avène, Essie, Clarins, L'Oréal, Kerastase and many more. On a monthly basis you receive about 4 to 6 products. Some of them are samples, but you often receive full size products which is always nice to test out.

Honestly, I still have products laying in my Deauty box because I haven't gotten the chance to test them out. But so far, I'm a pretty darn happy customer :)

I've already gifted a friend of mine a 3 month subscription and she was very pleased with it. It shows that you don't have to be a beauty geek to appreciate a beauty box.

Deauty, keep up the good work and I hope to see a lot more surprises of you in my letterbox! Congratulations with your 1st anniversary and I wish you a lot many more years to come! Hip hip hooray!!

Miscellar water: Bioderma VS L'Oréal Paris

Howdy doody my beloved readers,

A few years ago, even before I was into beauty, I was shopping in Hong Kong and I saw a huge stand advertising these red bottles with a red or green cap. Little did I know, these were the upcoming HG's of many beauty guru's. These simple packaged bottles turned out to be miscellar water, a cleansing and make up removal.

I've been using Bioderma's miscellar water for over a year now, but my fingers are always itching if I see another miscellar water sitting there on a shelve of a drugstore.

In this blog post I'll be reviewing 2 miscellar waters: Bioderma Laboratoire Dermatologique and the L'Oréal Paris.

Although my face loves to be oily, I purchased the red version of the miscellar water which is for sensitive skin. Let's be honest, we ALL have sensitive skin next to having dry, normal, combo or oily skin.

Bioderma
L'Oréal
Ingredients
Aqua, PEG-6, caprylic, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, mannitol, xylitol, rhamnose, fructooligosaccharides, propylene glycol, disodium edta, cetrimonium bromide
Aqua, hexlene glycol, glycerin, poloxamer 184, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, dissodium edta, polyaminopropyl biguanide
Packaging
Transparent bottle with red cap. The sticker on it had black and red writing on it.
Transparent rectangle bottle. The background in the sticker has a faded red color.
Price
19,75€ for 500ml
4,29€ for 200ml
Claims
* cleanses
* removes make up
* soothes
* fragrance free
* hypoallergenic
* cleanses
* removes make up
* tones & soothes
* fragrance free
* hypoallergenic
Pros
* sinks into the face immediately

* bottle is easy to travel with
* affordable price
* took off more make up

Cons
* bulky packaging, difficult to travel with unless you buy the tiny version
* rather expensive for what it is
* took less make up off than the 'Oréal one
* leaves a wet residu on the face, takes a while before the face soaks in the miscellar water

Overall, I like the L'Oréal one better. Yes, I like the cheaper one over the Bioderma. Although Bioderma does sinks in faster into the skin, L'Oréal beats Bioderma on a lot of domains: it's more convenient, performs better and it's cheaper. L'Oréal has done a great job at putting this miscellar on the market long after Bioderma has. People had the opportunity to try out Bioderma's miscellar water, they did their research and now they move on to a cheaper version which gives equally good results. Nicely done L'Oréal!

My daily make up routine

Hi make up lovers!
Today I wanted to share my everyday make up routine. Just for your information, in spite of my obsession for make up and beauty tools, I actually don't wear make up that often, or at least not tons of make up.

I have a preference for the natural look, but I have experimented with some more for evening outings.

I mostly wear make make up when I have to work, or when I go out with friends. During the weekends I'm going au naturel to let my skin breath :)

Anyways, enough chit chat, let's jump right into it!

I like to work from the top down:
  1. eyebrows
    Lioele auto eyebrow pencil - gray black
    • I used to neglect my eyebrows. Frankly, I didn't care!
      Until beauty gurus started to tell more about eyebrows, I started to pluck my eyebrows in the shape I prefer and started to fill them in where needed.
    • The Lioele auto eyebrow pencil has a gray black pencil on one side and a spooley on the other side.
  2. lashes
    Shu Uemura eye lash curler
    • Shu Uemura eye lash curler. Do I need to say more if I tell you I have typical asian eye lashes? They're short and stick straight. I NEED my eye lash curler to give that umph to my lashes.
      Fairy Drops Platinum waterproof mascara
      Maybelline Illegal Length non-waterproof mascara

    • Afterwards I go over with some black mascara. Some of you know my HG is the Fairy Drops Platinum waterproof mascara. But I do like to experiment with non-waterproof mascara's as well. I have to admit, there not a lot of non-waterproof mascara's I like, but I have found one that is ... ok. It doesn't smudge too easily (but still does, especially I've been wearing it the entire day), and keep my lashes curled after putting on a coat of mascara. I present to you the Maybelline Illegal Length Fibre Extensions mascara.
    • The tube looks quite feminine. A slightly curved, long mascara with pink writing on it.
    • The thing which sold me? The fibres. I noticed there are fibres in it, but it doesn't contain as much fibres as the Fairy Drops does.
    • I have noticed that this mascara is rather wet. And although I prefer drier mascara's, this one is ... ok :)
  3. concealer
    Essence coverstick - 05 matt beige
    • I'm like any other young woman who has their occasional rush of hormones, and yes, I have break outs as well. I used to have a lot of acne, but never to the point that I had to see a dermatologist. No, I just dealt with it, because I know there are people with severe acne problems. I was lucky enough to not have that problem.
    • Back then I never heard of the existence of concealer or foundation. Although I still don't wear foundation, concealer has become my best friend :)
    • I've used high end concealers and drugstore concealers. I do have my favorites in high end and drugstore, but in the end, I'm not rich and I don't have sponsors who are kind enough to send me products. No, I'm not affiliated with any company and I buy everything with my own money.
    • I'm currently using a drugstore concealer, namely a coverstick from a drugstore brand Essence in 05 matt beige.
    • On the little box it says the formula contains allantoin. For those who don't know what allantoin is, it's moisturizing, causes keratin to soften the skin and it heals the skin more quickly.
    • It covers up my redness and blemishes, it turns out matt (great for my oily skin!) and I paid around 2€...SCORE!
  4. lip balm
    Kiehl's lip balm
    • If you know me, you'd know I'm super duper, over the top, totally ob-sessed with lip balms. I have tons of lip balms lying around in every room of the house. I cannot live without them...
    • I like to slap on some of my Kiehl's lip balm #1, which I got with my Deauty box. Is it really that good as people claim it to be? I guess it's ok. Would I repurchase it? No. Why? Because it doesn't do miracles to my lips. Yes, it leaves it moisturized for the first hour I've put it on, but in the end I'm reaching for my other lip balms during the day anyway. I'm just trying to use it up.
    • The biggest downside to this lip balm is probably that this does contain parabens. No thank you :)
Here it was, my daily make up routine!

Have a wonderful day beauties!

Catrice eyeshadow

After having the Maybelline 24 hour longlasting eyeshadow, Catrice has released a longlasting eyeshadow as well. I noticed they have all released colors with a metal finish such as bronze, silver, gold and bright colors.

Catrice - Lord of the Blings
I bought number 040, Lord of the Blings, a gold color. It's very creamy, blends well and dries instantly. I think this would make a great primer and/or all over lid color.

Catrice is known to be the European Wet 'n Wild brand. They're qualitative, yet cheap, YAY!

Must admit, there's a possibility that I'll be purchasing other colors as well :)
